We attended a 9 am Court appointment and after a very short ceremony, Eli got her Certificate of Adoption from the Probate Court in our County.
There was no really the need of this extra step but our adoption agency like many others suggest that adoptive parents do this so they can then apply and get a "Foreign Birth Certificate" in the State in which the family resides. This helps everybody because whenever the child needs a birth certificate, it can be requested in The United States and not in the country where the child was born. Guatemala in Eli's case.
And this week we already received her Foreign Birth Certificate and right after picking it up, I went to the Social Security office and applied for her social security card. I was told, we would get it in the mail within 7 working days so this means that it would be here no later than next week.
These are some pics from that day in Court.

Elizabeth received a haircut from her grandma Herminia just two days after the Baptism. At first we were not sure if we had gone the right way, but later on we really liked it. It's short and she looks adorable. At the Court room in Laconia, NH.
