Adopting Elizabeth or better yet, Adopting Mommy!

I am adding to this post, not removing the original content. And I'd like to say that it has been a beautiful journey to be Elizabeth's Mom and to be part of her life. I hope Eli, that one day you can go over this blog that I've created for you and that you will cherish our lives together. I'd like to title this blog" Adopting Mommy" instead. You've taken me, accepted me and made me a better person.

Original Post from 2008 when I created this blog: Some of the pics were taken at the foster home where she has lived since she was born. We have received these photos on a monthly basis together with her medical reports.

A month ago, on June the 19th, Elizabeth's readoption process here in New Hampshire was finalized.
We attended a 9 am Court appointment and after a very short ceremony, Eli got her Certificate of Adoption from the Probate Court in our County.
There was no really the need of this extra step but our adoption agency like many others suggest that adoptive parents do this so they can then apply and get a "Foreign Birth Certificate" in the State in which the family resides. This helps everybody because whenever the child needs a birth certificate, it can be requested in The United States and not in the country where the child was born. Guatemala in Eli's case.
And this week we already received her Foreign Birth Certificate and right after picking it up, I went to the Social Security office and applied for her social security card. I was told, we would get it in the mail within 7 working days so this means that it would be here no later than next week.

These are some pics from that day in Court.

Elizabeth received a haircut from her grandma Herminia just two days after the Baptism. At first we were not sure if we had gone the right way, but later on we really liked it. It's short and she looks adorable.
At the Court room in Laconia, NH.

The entire process was very easy, everybody was so helpful and nice and we avoided paying a lawyer to do the readoption process!

Outside the Court House.

More celebration
