Adopting Elizabeth or better yet, Adopting Mommy!

I am adding to this post, not removing the original content. And I'd like to say that it has been a beautiful journey to be Elizabeth's Mom and to be part of her life. I hope Eli, that one day you can go over this blog that I've created for you and that you will cherish our lives together. I'd like to title this blog" Adopting Mommy" instead. You've taken me, accepted me and made me a better person.

Original Post from 2008 when I created this blog: Some of the pics were taken at the foster home where she has lived since she was born. We have received these photos on a monthly basis together with her medical reports.

Memorial Day weekend

During Memorial Day weekend we had the company of our niece Rachel who came from upstate NY . My aunt Betty arrived from Caracas and my brother and his family joined the group and spent a couple of days with us.

No matter how cold and windy it was up there, we really had a blast at Mt. Washington

The temperature dropped drastically in a matter of a few miles

On the way down, just a few miles from the top, you could appreciate this beautiful and clear sky

But if you looked to the other side, then you would see this...

Quick update from Mama : Eli calls the yellow color, banana. The rest of the colors are all green for her. I've been trying to have an explanation for it and the only thing I can think of is that the first color I taught her was green (it's my mother's favorite color). From then on, no matter how many times you teach her the colors, she still says "verde" when you ask her what color is something.

This week, Eli got bitten really bad on the back of her head. She has a red spot, about 2 inches big and the center has a hard bump. I was so nervous about it that today I took her to the doctor. The nurse said that it was nothing we had to worry about and that in a couple of days it should go away. We'll keep checking on it.

Today Eli said good bye to a very nice lady who was coming to play with her and do some speech therapy on Fridays. Eli was re-evaluated today and she is doing so well that she no longer qualifies for this program. She would start asking for Lee early in the week hoping that I would say: yes, she is coming today. But this will not be the case anymore, not even on Fridays and although I am very happy for Eli's great results and fabulous work performed by Lee, I feel sad because we'll miss her visits. Specially my baby. Well, she'll get over and probably we'll have Lee visiting once in a while.

This is my update for now. Take care and thanks for reading our blog.
